What is NatHERS?
NatHERS (Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme) is a 10-star rating system that assesses a home’s thermal performance as per its design. The intent of the rating system is to provide a measure by which consumers can compare homes to one another, similar to the way star ratings on appliances is used to compare energy efficiency performance.
NatHERS accounts for building materials, site layout, orientation, fenestration and climate type.

Most jurisdictions mandate a minimum compliance level of 6-stars, which indicates only marginally good thermal performance
The Scheme is administered by the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources.
Why do I need a NatHERS certificate?
The National Construction Code has mandatory requirements around energy efficiency for homes. NatHERS certificate gives builders, certifiers and regulatory authorities a way to quickly confirm the building has been built to the design on which the energy rating assessment is based.
Only a NatHERS accredited assessor can generate a compliant NatHERS certificate.
